Kearney Volunteer Fire Department

Protecting the Public Since 1883

Since 1883, the Kearney Volunteer Fire Department has protected Suburban Fire Protection District #1. Currently this district is home to almost 40,000 people and covers 272 square miles.

In addition to fire protection, KVFD performs rescue, HazMat, Dive, Airport Rescue and Firefighting, Color Guard, and Fire Prevention. All of this is performed by more than 60 volunteers and 13 paid staff, making KVFD the second largest volunteer department in the state.
